Newton Scott, formerly a Main Board Director of Scottish Widows until his retirement in July this year, has been appointed as a non-executive Director to the Life & Pensions Board of the Misys Financial Services Division.
Newton, who is 55, takes up the part-time appointment immediately. He joined Scottish Widows in 1964, as a clerk in the Newcastle branch of the then mutual society. Newton held several roles in the sales and marketing operation, before being appointed as Managing Director, Marketing & Distribution in 2000. He was responsible for all marketing and distribution through Independent Financial Advisers, and the direct salesforce, connected with the Lloyds TSB Network.
Commenting on the appointment, John Sussens, Group Managing Director and Chairman of the Life & Pensions Board, said: “Newton brings a wealth of experience to Misys. His product provider perspective will add a new dimension to the existing management team. In addition, the knowledge he has gained in the marketing and distribution of financial services will help Misys tremendously as we expand the services offered by our Life and Pensions businesses over the coming months.”
The Life and Pensions Board oversees the operations of the five Misys IFA networks (Countrywide, DBS, Financial Options, IFA Network and Kestrel), AssureWeb and Misys IFA Desktop Solutions.
