Insight Investment has hired Sandy Black as head of equities. Black will reporting to chief investment officer Abdallah Nauphal starting on 15 November.

In his new role Black will lead Insight’s equity team and will chair Insight’s equity management committee which comprises John Bearman (head of UK equities), David Marchant (head of international equities), Richard Wiseman (head of European equities), Nick Anderson (head of research) and Mark Winter (head of equity dealing).

Black, 41, was previously head of European equities at Deutsche Asset Management. He was promoted to this role in May 1998, having joined Deutsche as European fund manager in 1994. Prior to this he specialised in European equities at Invesco Asset Management, having started his asset management career at N M Rothschild.

“Sandy Black is a very good investor with an excellent long term track record,” Nauphal said. “In this new role he is charged with leading the investment thinking of our equity teams and challenging existing boundaries. Insight already has a strong equities investment and research team and with the added benefit of Sandy’s leadership we are set to offer a very strong proposition.”
