Rosemary Leahy has been appointed Head of Securities Services, Ireland, for HSBC Securities Services (HSS), with effect from 1 September 2006. Leahy takes over from Ian Stephenson, current Head of Fund Administration and Trustee Services, Institutional Fund Services, Europe, who is based in Scotland and has covered the role of acting Managing Director in Ireland since February.
Leahy will lead HSS operations in Ireland, which has close to $60 billion in funds under administration and includes operations centres in central Dublin and Sandyford.
She joins HSS from ABN AMRO where she has spent the last three years managing regional and product businesses for transaction banking, including Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Leahy managed the strategic mergers, acquisitions and disposals team in the transaction banking business in Ireland for the last year serving as Managing Director of the company’s International Financial Services Company business.
Prior to joining ABN AMRO, she spent 10 years with Citigroup in the transaction banking business in both Europe and North America. While at Citigroup, Leahy held a number of positions, including European Sales Manager and Global Solutions Engineer.
She began her career with Royal Bank of Scotland in London, where she held positions in change management and credit control. Leahy is a graduate of University College Cork, Ireland and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
