Reuters and Novell announced an alliance in support of Reuters Market Data System (RMDS) on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server from Novell for financial institutions worldwide. Novell and Reuters have been working together to extend the performance and support benefits of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server to RMDS customers.
The move will allow Reuters clients to take the market standard data platform RMDS and run it on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, which is becoming increasingly popular within the financial services industry. In addition, Reuters has joined Novell’s PartnerNet program and has certified RMDS on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server to help ensure the future success of joint financial services customers.
Michael Parlapiano, Reuters global head of Information Management Solutions, said, “Reuters is committed to providing real choice for our customers and ensuring they get the best possible performance. We see RMDS on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server as an important way to achieve this. Novell’s support for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server from a broad range of hardware vendors and partners in financial services makes it an excellent fit with the needs of Reuters clients.”
Ron Hovsepian, Novell president and chief operating officer, said, “Financial services organizations around the world are realizing significant performance benefits in their trading environments with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, and Novell is pleased to be working with Reuters to help our joint financial services customers gain a competitive edge. Together with Reuters, Novell will ensure our customers are benefiting from a reliable, scalable and flexible platform for their most critical applications and services.”
Angelo Pereira, director of market data for Deutsche Bank, said, “We have deployed Reuters Market Data System on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server globally across Deutsche Bank. Together they have proved to be a very stable platform for us, and we are pleased with the trouble-free performance they have given us since we installed them.”
