Electronic payments in the Republic of Ireland are expected to improve with the launch of an updated software application used to validate bank account details.

BANK WIZARD, which was developed by Eiger Systems, notifies users immediately at the point of data entry whenever a bank account or sort code is entered incorrectly, reducing the number of errors made either by ata entry clerks or by customers themselves setting up Direct Debits over the Internet, a spokesperson for Eiger Systems said.

The software is compatible with banking systems already using the Irish Retail Electronic Payments Clearing Company (IRECC) or Irish Real-time Interbank Settlement Company (IRIS) payment systems.
