REGIS-TR has submitted an application for registration as a trade repository to the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA).
The central trade repository for OTC derivatives transactions, jointly owned by Clearstream and Spanish CSD Iberclear, submitted its application to the authority and is confident is application for registration will benefit from the full guarantee of being accepted by ESMA. REGIS-TR has been involved in comprehensive discussions with ESMA in order to verify the compliance, accuracy and completeness of its business offer. The trade repository said it is confident it will obtain the license in the minimum period stipulated by the regulation and that ESMA is expected to start granting licenses from June 25.
Obtaining the Trade Repository license is part of REGIS-TR’s commitment to support the industry from the inception of the new reporting obligation derived from the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR).
REGIS-TR was the first trade repository to offer a test environment fully designed to ESMA’s technical standards for the European derivatives community.
