The Royal Bank of Scotland (“RBS”) appoints Robert Brennan as Head of Short Term Markets and Financing (“STMF”).

Robert will be responsible for balance sheet management, building on existing STMF trading and risk management systems, and enhancing the bank’s overall position as a premier provider of yen STMF products to its local and global yen-based investors. He will report locally to Philippe Avril, Branch Manager and Representative in Japan and to Vijayan Subramani, Head of STMF, Asia Pacific.

“Robert is an experienced treasurer, who brings tremendous value and expertise to RBS,” says Philippe Avril, branch manager and RBS representative in Japan. “He will be tasked with helping us to develop our funding operations and ensuring that our STMF franchise is top notch for our clients. His appointment will further strengthen our team in Japan.”

Japan is one of the six regional hubs in the RBS international network, together with the UK, US, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia.

Robert was previously Group Treasurer, Head of Group Treasury of Shinsei Bank, Tokyo, a post he has held since November 2006. He has worked for over 15 years in various assignments in Tokyo, London and New York across a number of trading and treasury areas including Regional Treasurer of WestLB AG for the UK & Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa. Robert is a mechanical engineering graduate of the City University London and holds a post graduate degree in Finance from the London Business School.
