In this newly created role, Gray is responsible for building an integrated prime services business in the region. The team will include Futures & Options, Prime Brokerage, Central Counterparty Clearing and a newly created Mandate sales team.

Gray brings with him 25 years of experience in the financial markets. Prior to joining RBS, he worked for UBS Group for 17 years, including 10 years in the Prime Services business.

He took on the role as head of Prime Services for UBS in Australia in 2001 and was then promoted to head of Prime Services in Asia Pacific across FICC and Equity, including all Delta One products.

Commenting on the appointment, Fabian Shey, global head of Prime Services & Client Execution said: “Prime Services represents a significant revenue growth opportunity in APAC and is a strategic focus area for The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Markets & International Banking (M&IB), given the changing global regulatory environment.”

Last October, the Bank hired Shey from UBS to set up the Prime Services team globally.

In his new role, Gray is based in Hong Kong and reports to Samir Atassi, Head of APAC ex-Japan Markets Sales regionally and globally to Fabian Shey, global head of Prime Services & Client Execution.
