RBC Capital Markets announced the appointment of Simon Gill as co-head of its U.S. investment banking Healthcare group. Joining him as co-head of the group is Kevin Davies, a managing director in the Healthcare group.
As well, the firm announced today the hiring of five additional officers to positions in various groups within its U.S. Global Investment Banking Group.
Gill joins RBC Capital Markets as a managing director from Needham & Company, where he was a managing director and co-head of the firm’s Biotechnology & Healthcare group. Davies joined RBC Capital Markets in May 2005 as a Managing Director. Previously, he was with Wells Fargo and, prior to that, Robertson Stephens.
Gill and Davies are both based in New York and report to Peter de Vos, RBC Capital Markets’ Head of Corporate Finance.
“Recognizing the significant opportunity in the healthcare space now and in the future, we are excited by the prospect of teaming together such experienced, well-respected professionals,” said de Vos. “Simon has a proven track record in helping to build a top-ranked biotechnology investment banking franchise at Needham & Company, and Kevin has done an outstanding job in helping to meld together the Healthcare group since joining RBC. The breadth of experience they bring to the group will be of strong benefit to our clients.”
Separately, RBC Capital Markets announced the hiring of five additional bankers across several industry groups. Greg Chow was hired as a vice-president in the firm’s Private Placement group, based in RBC’s San Francisco office. Michael Jenkins joins as a vice-president in the Consumer group, based in Atlanta and Jevan Anderson joins as a director in the M&A group, based in San Francisco. Jason Meek was hired as a director in the Energy group, based in Houston. Madonna Park joins as a vice-president in the Communications, Media & Entertainment group, based in New York.
Chow joins RBC Capital Markets from Wells Fargo Securities, where he headed up the Private Capital Group, largely focused on private placements. Jenkins joins from Wachovia, where he was a vice-president, International Corporate Finance Origination. Anderson was formerly a Principal with M&A boutique SVB Alliant/Alliant Partners. Meek was most recently a director at KeyBanc, where he served as one of the firm’s primary MLP and E&P bankers, and Park was previously a principal at Media Strategic Advisors II, and prior to that a VP in the CM&E research group at Lehman Brothers.
“Our U.S. Global Investment Banking business has grown substantially over the last three plus years,” said de Vos. “And as we continue our broad growth across platforms, we move closer toward our goal of being the leading U.S. middle market and emerging growth investment bank.”
