RBC Capital Markets, the corporate and investment banking arm of Royal Bank of Canada, the largest bank in Canada and the 12th largest bank in the world, has hired Phil Halper, as a Director in its Rates Trading team in London.

Halper joins RBC Capital Markets Scandinavian Rates Trading team with 15 years market experience, most recently at RBS where he was Senior Trader. Halpers primary focus at RBC Capital Markets will be Norway.

This latest hire is part of our long-term strategy to develop and grow our Rates business in Europe, says John Greenslade, head of fixed ıncome & currencies Europe. We are committed to expanding on our strengths in this area and continue to look out for experienced professionals.

Over the last 12 months RBC Capital Markets has hired in excess of 300 people throughout its global capital markets operations. On 1 July 2009, RBC Capital Markets announced the appointments of Arif Hussein and Peter Drewienkiewicz who both joined RBC Capital Markets from UBS as Directors to its London based Rates Sales and Trading team.
