Rabobank announces three appointments that finalise its goal of integrating all trading , structuring and engineering of structured products across all asset classes (equity, fixed income, hybrid , FX and credit). The rationale for this development is to create synergies across all structuring groups as well as serving Rabobanks core clients across the full product spectrum.

The three appointments are Jasper van Wel as European Head of Client Structured Products (CSP), Xavier Ducros as European Head of Structuring and Franz Maier as Global Head of Financial Engineering.

Jasper will join Rabobank in London on 1 May 2009 and report to Donal Galvin, Global Head of CSP and Head of GFM London. He will be responsible for all trading and structuring of CSP products, using his technical expertise and experience in structured products to further the integrated management of all non-linear risks.

Most recently Jasper worked at MKM Longboat Capital Advisors trading multiple products. Prior to that, he worked for a number of years at ABN AMRO, his most recent role being Head of Alternatives Trading, where he focused on Hybrids, Fund Linked Derivatives, Structured Insurance and Commodity & Weather Derivatives structuring.

Xavier, who joined Rabobank in 2007, will report to Jasper and has transferred to London from Hong Kong where he has been working within the Multi-Product Structuring area. He previously worked at HSBC Hong Kong where he was Head of Structured Solutions for Asia and also held various structuring and sales roles for HSBC and Commerzank across multi-assets.

Franz, who has been with Rabobank for more than ten years and fulfilled a number of senior roles in both Risk Management and most recently as Head of Structuring and Financial Engineering for the Equity & Fund Derivatives Group, will report to Donal Galvin. He will manage financial engineering across all asset classes to ensure a more efficient, multi-product based approach to product development for core clients.

Im excited at the opportunity these appointments present to strengthen the European management platform of the Client Structured Products business within our GFM division, says Donal Galvin, global head of CSP, head of GFM, London.

In 2008, GFM reorganised its sales teams to be multi-product and focused only on dealing with core and GFM-specific clients. The Client Structured Products Group has now fully aligned itself as a multi-product trading, structuring and financial engineering group that will be a solutions provider for our key clients. The Group will provide all asset-based investment ideas and liability-based hedging solutions using equities, fixed income, FX, commodities or a combination of them all.
