The Professional Risk Managers’ International Association (PRMIA) says its membership has grown 120% in the past year to reach a total of 20,000 members. This means that, in just three years, PRMIA has grown from nothing to 20,000 members. It claims over 60 local chapters worldwide and to have hosted 15,000 professionals at over 200 PRMIA meetings this year.

“Our members are the foundation of our organization. We now represent over 20,000 risk professionals dedicated to advancing the standards of the profession worldwide through the free exchange of ideas,” says David Koenig, Executive Director and Chair, Board of Directors for PRMIA. “Our mission to be a free and open forum for the promotion of sound risk management standards and practices globally, together with our increasing membership, allows us to speak with an even stronger voice on all risk management issues.”

Towards the latter half of 2004 PRMIA launched The Professional Risk Managers’ Handbook, the official study manual for the Professional Risk Manager Exam Program. The book contains in-depth contributions from over 35 leading risk and finance practitioners and academics from around the world.

Each chapter of the book tackles the theory and practice or risk management and includes a wealth of case studies, practical information, and worked examples. The Handbook has been purchased by members in more than 75 countries since its launch.

PRMIA was formed in 2002.
