As an association that I have always found to be an invaluable resource for risk issues, I am privileged to now be on the steering committee for the Zurich Chapter of PRMIA, says Ioannis Akkizidis. I look forward to contributing the knowledge I have gained from both my vocational and scholastic experience to work towards creating a best practice for risk management in this region and worldwide.

Akkizidis role at FRSGlobal, includes constructing prototype models for different business cases, consulting banks for specific risk management issues, analysing the financial events of new types of contracts and the assisted financial risks, technical specifications for new types of financial instruments, performing test cases (i.e. credit VaR, stress testing, liquidity, etc), supporting existing clients and various other responsibilities.

Akkizidis holds a Bachelors Degree (BEng) in Electrical/Electronic and Computer Engineering from the University of Athens, a Master of Science (MSc) in Control Technology from the University of Portsmouth and a PhD in Applied Mathematics & Artificial Intelligence from the University of Wales. He is also a visiting lecturer at Universitt Zrich, bringing financial systems analysis and applications to academia.

PRMIA Zurich aims to be the leading professional association of risk managers in Switzerland by offering education, events and technical information to enhance broadly the topic of risk management. They encourage the exchange of ideas and best practices among risk management experts from both industry and academics. They also raise awareness for the Professional Risk Manager (PRM) designation in Switzerland and encourage and support professionals in reaching the PRM certification.

One of the main goals of the chapter will be to increase chapter membership and in addition the chapter C-Suite membership. They will achieve this by informing risk professionals through different channels about planned events and PRMIA offerings and as the chapter grows will work to recruit highly qualified risk experts to the steering committee.
