Fleming Family & Partners, the UK private investment company controlled by the Fleming family, awarded F&C Management a mandate to manage over GBP 60 million of UK equities.

The portfolio will be managed by Peter Lees, head of UK equities at F&C, who previously managed the mandate at Deutsche Asset Management. Lees was part of a team of five former Deutsche UK equity managers recruited by F&C in autumn 2005 in a move to strengthen the group’s UK equity capabilities.

“The approach that Peter and his team will use on this mandate represents the blueprint for F&C’s UK high alpha offering in the institutional market place,” said Richard Wilson, head of pan-European equities at F&C. “Pension funds and other institutional investors are increasingly looking to allocate assets to high alpha strategies and this is an area we will be targeting for further growth.”
