PLUS Markets had strong trading activity results for March, despite worldwide volatility in the equity markets.

PLUS reported having 71,315 trades valued at 420.06 million, which represented a volume of 800.46 million shares traded on the PLUS platform.

“We’re pleased to see robust first quarter trading activity,” said Cyril Theret, business development director for PLUS. “Our performance is showing solid consistency, and we’re committed to building our trading service offering ahead of MiFID.”

PLUS originally launched its extended trading platform in December 2005. Since then, it has displayed a steady growth in trading activity. Last year, more than half a million trades, worth a total of nearly 3 billion and representing more than 5.75 billion shares, took place on PLUS rather than on traditional exchanges.
