PLUS Markets has made dramatic inroads into London share trading business during the first few weeks of January 2008 and is now attracting substantial market share.

Amidst worldwide volatility, 21 January 2008 was a record day for PLUS, with just short of 30,000 trades executed. This figure amounts to ten times the average number of daily trades that used to take place on PLUS prior to the introduction of its new trading platform on 17 November 2007.

PLUS also commanded almost half of the total number of on-exchange bargains transacted in Northern Rock. Its market share in other heavily-traded stocks, including Barclays, RBS, Woolworths and M&S is also growing rapidly, as revealed a few weeks ago in its December trading activity.

PLUS is now approaching the 50% threshold for all retail trades taking place in the UK on a daily basis.
