BNP Paribas has appointed José Placido, currently head of client development and strategy for BNP Paribas Securities Services, for the additional role of head of financial institutions coverage for its corporate and investment banking (CIB) unit.

Placido will take over from Henri Foch, who will retire at the end of June. The appointment will be effective from July 1 2015, and shall further emphasis BNP Paribas’ objective to develop its institutional client segments and align the CIB and Securities Services businesses.

Starting in July, he will report to Patrick Colle, CEO of BNP Paribas Securities Services, on behalf of Yann Gerardin, head of CIB at BNP Paribas.

“José will play a key role in continuing to develop close and long-term relationships between BNP Paribas and financial institutions. His appointment reflects our ambition to focus on the needs of institutional clients, providing them with a comprehensive range of solutions to grow their business and adapt to changes in the global financial markets, ” says Gerardin.

“This was one of the key reasons for aligning Securities Services within CIB last year and today’s announcement reinforces this strategy.”
