PIMCO has appointed Paul Craven as Senior Vice President and Head of Institutional Business Development for the UK.

Craven was formerly Head of UK Institutional Sales for Schroders, having spent 17 years with the firm. At PIMCO, he will take responsibility for the management and expansion of PIMCO’s UK institutional client base, reporting to Joe McDevitt, Head of PIMCO Europe.

“Paul brings to PIMCO a strong fixed-income background and a deep knowledge of the UK institutional marketplace developed during his years at Schroders,” says Joe McDevitt. “We see an important role for an innovative, specialist fixed-income manager like PIMCO in the rapidly evolving UK pension fund arena and Paul has the requisite skills and experience to help us connect more effectively to this marketplace.”

At Schroders, Craven was involved in establishing the firm’s fixed-income team in the 1980s and was a senior bond portfolio manager in the 1990s. In 2000, he took the role of UK Institutional Account Manager and was promoted to Head of UK Institutional Sales in 2002. He is a graduate from St John’s College, Cambridge University, and is a member of the Association for Investment Management and Research (AIMR).

Paul Craven’s appointment comes shortly after the announcement that Mike Amey will join PIMCO from Insight and Rothschild Asset Management as Senior Vice-President in charge of UK fixed income. Both will join PIMCO in early September.
