Peter Adams has been hired by ABN AMRO Mellon to head up their European Sales division. He joins ABN AMRO Mellon from State Street, where he was Managing Director of The WM Company.

Adams worked in various roles at Deutsche Bank, before the global custody division was acquired by State Street, and was most recently managing director of The WM Company. Prior to this he was Head of Transaction Support and Global Head of Network Management. In his new position with ABN AMRO Mellon, Adams will report to Paulo Sousa, Chief Commercial Officer.

“Peter’s global management experience will enable him to provide sound support for our commercial division,” says Sousa. “Peter’s remit will be to help us continue to meet our growth objectives and to provide insight and ideas towards progressing our successful model. I am looking forward to working with him to take us to the next stage in our development.”

Adams sais he joined ABN AMRO Mellon because “the group has a compelling strategy and has made exceptional progress in the market. I look forward to building on these strong foundations and leveraging my experience within the Pensions, Asset Management, Charities and Local Authority markets to further our growth.”

Nadine Chakar, CEO of ABN AMRO Mellon, adds that the 50:50 joint venture between ABN Amro and Mellon Financial has quadrupled in size since its formation by “following a disciplined approach to business acquisition. We balance our growth with a steady take-on of professionals, to ensure we create sufficient capacity to maintain the exceptional service levels that our clients have come to expect. Peter will undoubtedly be influential to our future growth strategy and I am delighted to welcome him to our team.”
