European private equity firm Permira has dispatched capital call letters to investors in a bid to raise around $918 million for its acquisition of a 51% stake in UK security company NDS, according to reports. The deal to take the company private is worth $3.6 billion.
Completion of the deal would lead to Permira owning 51% of NDS and News Corporation owning 49%.
NDS creates the security and enabling technologies as well as the interactive applications that allow operators to generate revenues by delivering digital content to a range of devices, including: TVs, set-top boxes, Digital Video Recorders, PCs, mobile phones and portable media players.
