European private equity firm Permira, together with global media giant News Corp., has completed its $3.6 billion take-private of listed UK security company NDS. Permira now owns 51% of the business, while News Corp. owns the remaining 49%. Last month, Permira dispatched capital call letters to investors in a bid to raise around $918 million for the acquisition, according to a statement.

NDS creates the security and enabling technologies as well as the interactive applications that allow operators to generate revenues by delivering digital content to a range of devices, including TVs, set-top boxes, digital video recorders, PCs, mobile phones and portable media players.

News Corp. has operations in various industry segments including filmed entertainment, television, cable network programming, direct broadcast satellite television, magazines and inserts, newspapers and information services and book publishing.
