Private equity firm Estancia Capital Partners has acquired a minority interest in fund administrator Equinoxe Alternative Investment Services for an undisclosed amount.

Estancia, the latest PE firm to invest in the fund administration industry, joins insurance company XL Group as an owner of Equinoxe. The fund administrator will use the stake contributed by Estancia to open client coverage offices in Singapore and Malta. Equinoxe also plans to add new hires and expand its service offerings around the world due to Estancia’s investment. Equinoxe’s management team will stay in place and the company will remain independent despite the new ownership structure.

“Equinoxe is a premier service provider within the global alternative investment fund administration space led by a proven management team that has previously successfully built two similar service businesses,” said Danny Kang, a partner at Estancia. “We look forward to working closely with the team to source acquisition opportunities, support new product solutions and execute on its strategic corporate development plan leveraging Estancia’s deep network of relationships including alternative managers, lawyers, accountants and industry consultants.”
