Sterling Commerce says Bottomline Technologies Europe (BTE) is to implement its Sterling Integrator business process management and integration platform.

The Sterling Commerce solution will replace legacy systems in BTE’s Transactional Services division that were unable to support the company’s growth plans. Sterling Integrator will run on Linux and be used by BTE to manage and control the receipt, vaildation, processing and reporting of financial transactions.

BTE is a BACSTEL-IP payments solution supplier that services financial document processes and transactions for nearly 150 European clients, including BT Xansa, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, Lloyd’s TSB and BAA. The company performs over 1 million client payment and document transactions each month and will use Sterling Integrator to provide the customer support team with more timely access to the status of these transactions. Sterling Integrator will allow BTE to offer its customers information via the Web.

“With the implementation of Sterling Integrator we will reduce our operating costs by rationalising our existing disparate and outdated applications into one integrated system,” says Adrian Cox, Technology Manager at BTE. “The J2EE architecture that Sterling Integrator is built on coupled with the robust and adaptable nature of Linux will allow us to meet our customers’ demands for 24×7 operation and activity monitoring. As such, Sterling Commerce’s solution is integral to our plans to grow our existing transactions services and add new profitable services to our client offering.”

Chris Hayes, Solutions Manager EMEA, Sterling Commerce, claims that the modular nature of Sterling Integrator will allow BTE to deploy the solution in incremental steps. “It will solve BTE’s current business pains with regard to cheque and document processing and also address all of the company’s future business integration and business process management requirements,” he says
