On May 26, 2005, the Osaka Securities Exchange’s (OSE) temporarily froze its acceptance of listing applications for “Hercules” market, but now the OSE will resume the acceptance of these applications around the end of September, according to Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation.
The temporary freeze was to avoid settlement errors brought about by the insufficient capacity of the operating system at the exchange, and the OSE seems to have regained confidence that the operating system will function stably thanks to some measures to soften the capacity issue.
For example, the exchange constrained information offering services to some extent in view of the insufficient capacity. Because it takes about two months to complete reviewing a listing application at earliest, the first issue after resuming the listing application process will be listed in the latter half of November 2005.
