The Osaka Securities Exchange (OSE) and JASDAQ have begun discussions that may lead to a merger of their computer systems, according to reports in Tokyo. It is understood that the discussions are based on an ambition to improve business continuity in the event of a natural disaster.
“They already have had preliminary discussion on technical adjustment, and are scheduled to work on a concrete plan for building backups,” notes a spokesman for Mizuho Corporate Bank in Tokyo. “They also will conduct studies on the need for legal adjustments, such as its impact on laws and legal frameworks, brokerage houses, as well as the impact on the clearing systems of JSCC and the settlement system of JASDEC.”
