optionsXpress Holdings, Inc. announced the hiring of two new senior executives, Barry Metzger and Patrick Schuler.
Metzger joins optionsXpress as chief executive officer of its brokersXpress subsidiary, a brokerage platform catering to independent registered representatives and investment advisors. In this role, he will be responsible for brokersXpress’s growth strategy, including sales and marketing, recruiting and continued product enhancements. Before coming to brokersXpress, Metzger was vice president and regional training manager at Morgan Stanley, focused on the recruitment, training and retention of financial advisors.
Metzger will report to Ned Bennett, chairman of the board of brokersXpress.
“We are thrilled to bring on Barry and his unique ability to find innovative ways to serve the needs of independent brokers and advisors. With his background, brokersXpress should further distinguish itself as the premier brokerage platform for this growing customer base.”
Schuler joins optionsXpress as chief technology officer, reporting to CEO David Kalt, who also had acted as CTO since the company’s founding in 2000. In this role, he is responsible for all optionsXpress technology initiatives, including technology development and product deployment, data base strategies and architecture, and all network and systems infrastructure.
Schuler brings more than 20 years of technology expertise in the securities industry, most recently with Goldman Sachs & Co., where he served as vice president and global head, Regional Enterprise Technology. In this role, Schuler managed a global enterprise team responsible for technology strategy and implementation for regional offices around the world.
Kalt says, “optionsXpress’s rapid growth is due in large part to our culture of continuous innovation. Throughout Pat’s career, he has demonstrated the same commitment for leveraging technology as a competitive advantage.”
