OneChicago joint venture exchange reported Monday that it traded 888,499 security futures contracts in July, setting an all-time record in volume in a month.

The exchange reported a new single-day trading volume record of 464,574 contracts set on July 25. OneChicago also reported a record average daily volume of 44,425 contracts traded.

July’s total volume exceeds the record set in July 2005 by more than 3%. Year-to-date volume is also up 34%.

“We are pleased with our steady volume growth. As we add more security futures listings we anticipate that volume will continue to increase and look forward to expanding our customer base even further,” says Marty Doyle, president of OneChicago.

The top five companies to be traded on the exchange are General Electric, Citigroup, Exxon Mobil, AT&T and Hewlett-Packard.
