OneChicago Reports 426% Increase In October Volume, Up 171% YTD

OneChicago, LLC reports that 586,007 security futures contracts traded at the Exchange in October, 426% higher than October 2004 volume. The average daily volume in October was 27,905. Year-to-date volume is up 171%. Open interest stood at 1,126,565 contracts on Oct. 31 after reaching a record 1,463,819 on Oct. 21.

Each single stock futures contract is equivalent to 100 shares of the underlying stock or exchange-traded fund. The top five single stock futures contracts by volume in October were: Citigroup Inc. (C1C), Procter & Gamble Co. (PG1C), Intel Corp. (INTC1C), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ1C), ChevronTexaco Corp. (CVX1C).

The Exchange lists 208 futures on single stocks, including futures on the DIAMONDS Trust, as well as four OneChicago Select Indexes, a new series of customer-designed narrow-based security index futures launched in July.

OneChicago is a joint venture of the Chicago Board Options Exchange Incorporated, Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. and the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT).
