OMX has acquired a 10 percent stake in Oslo Bors Holding ASA, the Norwegian stock exchange. The total consideration paid for the 500,000 shares is SEK 317 million.

“The acquisition of this stake in Oslo Bors is an attractive investment opportunity for OMX,” says Magnus Bocker, the CEO of OMX. “We know the company well through the Nordic cooperation and look forward to continuing to develop our close working relationship in the future”

“SEB views this acquisition very positively,” says a spokesman for SEB. “As well known, there is an upper limit of 10 pct ownership for a single shareholder in Oslo Bors. The OMX acquisition will though necessarily bring the consolidation discussion higher on the agenda as Oslo Bors and local Financial Institutions have been reluctant to act for Nordic consolidation and instead advocated a stand alone strategy.”
