Oslo VPS, Norways sole central securities depository, has appointed Ole-Wilhelm Meyer as the new CEO. Ole-Wilhelm Meyer succeeds Jan Hellstrm, who has been CEO of VPS since 1992.

Meyer is currently the CEO of SpareBank 1 Livsforsikring AS. He will take up his appointment on 14 September 2009.

Over the last 18 years, Meyer has worked almost entirely with companies in the banking and insurance sector, and a number of his appointments have been with companies undergoing significant change or refocusing. Over the last seven years he has been the chief executive of various companies in the SpareBank 1 Gruppen, and his management experience prior to this was with companies such as Norske Liv, Oslo Reinsurance Company, Uni Storebrand and Den norske Creditbank.

Ole-Wilhelm Meyer has management experience from companies of different sizes in the financial sector, and he has achieved good results from managing businesses with strong market and customer focus. VPS and the Oslo Brs VPS group face the need for ongoing change in an industry characterised by increasing competition, and we are extremely pleased with the boards choice of Ole-Wilhelm Meyer to lead VPS forward”, comments Bente A. Landsnes, Group Chief Executive Officer of Oslo Brs VPS.

Ole-Wilhelm Meyer is a business economics graduate of the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg, and he has also completed a number of management courses and training programs, including the AFF Solstrand Program.

Jan Hellstrm asked the board in December to start the search for his successor. Jan Hellstrm will continue with the Oslo Brs VPS group in an advisory role.
