OCC Total Volume Rises, Securities Lending Activity Drops

Total cleared contract volume at the OCC rose 10% year over year to 360,585,699, marking the second highest July volume, behind July 2008. The positive month brought year-to-date cleared contract volume into positive territory, as it is now up 0.26% from 2013.

Total cleared contract volume at the OCC rose 10% year over year to 360,585,699, marking the second highest July volume, behind July 2008. The positive month brought year-to-date cleared contract volume into positive territory, as it is now up 0.26% from 2013.

Futures contracts fared the best, rising 21% over last year, while options volume also increased 9% year over year. Year to date, these volumes are up 14% and 0.06% respectively.

However, securities lending CCP activity dropped by 14% since last year, and year-to-date stock loan activity is now down 10% since last year. The average daily loan value at OCC in July was $143.47 trillion.
