OCC Securities Lending Activity Up by a Third So Far in 2013

OCC’s securities lending CCP activities saw a 15% increase in new loans year on year in March. Year to date, stock loan activity is up 33% from the same period last year.

Average daily cleared contract volume for the March declined 8% from March 2012. Total cleared contract volume decreased 17% year on year. OCC’s year-to-date total contract volume is down 6% percent from 2012, while average daily volume is down 3%.

Exchange-listed options trading volume dropped 17% year over year in March. Average daily options trading volume for the month declined 9%. Year-to-date total options trading volume is down 6% in 2013.

Futures cleared by OCC jumped 44% in March compared to March 2012. OCC’s average daily futures contracts cleared increased 58% year over year. Year to date, total cleared futures volume is up 76%.
