OCCs securities lending activity saw a 57% increase year on year in January. The equity derivatives clearing corporation saw 100,574 transactions last month with an average daily loan value of $44.23 billion.
For its clearing business, total cleared contract volume last month rose 8% year on year. It was the second-highest January for OCC behind January 2011.
Exchange-listed options trading volume rose 8% over January 2012, while index options trading volume jumped 53%. Futures cleared by OCC soared 117% year over year last month. Of those, equity futures contacts increased by 78% and index and other futures by 125%.
