NYSE Euronext Volumes Mostly Down on Derivatives, Equities and ETFs

NYSE Euronext reported a 12.6% increase in average daily volume of global derivatives in July over July 2010, driven primarily by a 33.7% increase in US options over the time period. However, volumes were down a full 10% compared to levels the month before.

NYSE Euronext reported a 12.6% increase in average daily volume of global derivatives in July over July 2010, driven primarily by a 33.7% increase in US options over the time period. However, volumes were down a full 10% compared to levels the month before.

Average daily volume on US cash equities were down 23.9% from July 2010 levels, although European cash increased 15.8%. European derivatives products were down on the month, quarter and on July 2010.

ETF volumes were down as well, decreasing in July by 17.8% compared to July 2010, and down 5.2% compared to June 2011. Year-to-date, average daily volume of ETFs with the exchange group is 23.8% below prior year levels.
