In April trading in equities on the Spanish market through SIBE amounted to €122.82 billion, which represents a year on year increase of 58.4%. The number of trades was 2.53 million, 76.1% up on that recorded the same month a year earlier.

The accumulated trading volume posted since January has come in at €540.66 billion, 55.4% up on 2006. The number of trades during the same period was 56.5% up on the year.

The trading volume posted by the ETF segment in April came in at €256 million.

The return on the IBEX 35 index in April came down to 1.82% and the accumulated growth came in at 1.61%. The return on the IBEX 35 with dividends for the same period was 2.54%. The yearly returns on the IBEX MEDIUM CAP and IBEX SMALL CAP were 12.47% and 14.19% respectively. The accumulated return on the FTSE Latibex TOP index up to April was 12.03%.

Trading volumes in April on the warrants and certificates market came in at €390 million, which represents a 106.1% increase over the same month in 2006. The number of trades was 121.2% up on the same month a year earlier, at 63,108.

The accumulated figure up to April was € 1.57 million, 67.4% up on 2006. The number of trades increased by 64.7% during the same period.

In April Futures and Options trading through MEFF came in at 2.47 million contracts, 9% up on last year. It is worth noting the heavy trading activity in IBEX 35 Futures, MEFF’S flagship product, at 712,168 contracts and Mini IBEX 35 Futures, at 205,194 contracts, 53% and 97% up on the year respectively. Of note were also IBEX 35 Options, where trading reached 383,972 contracts, 38% up on the year.

The accumulated figure was 13.3 million contracts. It is worth mentioning the heavy trading in IBEX 35 Futures, at 2.8 million contracts, up 46% on the year and Mini IBEX 35 Futures, at 835,007 contracts, 89% up on the year.

Corporate Debt trading on AIAF in April reached € 76.05 bn, 20.3% up on that recorded a year earlier. This figure brings the accumulated trading volume from January to € 358.21 bn.

New issues in April came in at €46.28, up 7.2% on the same month a year earlier. This brings the accumulated volume of new issues from January to €221.90 bn, 32.5% up on the related figure a year earlier.

The outstanding balance at the end of April was € 653.46 bn, 32.9% up on April 2006.

Trading volume on SENAF in April was €4.91 bn, leaving an accumulated figure for the first four months of the year of €20.11 bn. This represents a 61% market share of all trading carried out on domestic trading platforms.
