PLUS Markets Group today announced upbeat trading activity, in terms of value and shares, traded for the month of June. PLUS posted trade value of 441.3 million from 60,952 bargains, representing a volume of 701.5 million shares traded on the PLUS platform.

“We’re very pleased to see our PLUS market continuing to support strong trading. During the month, we also admitted almost 200 new stocks to trading on PLUS, mainly comprising investment trusts. This took our total number of stocks on the PLUS platform to over 1,000, and taking our total market capitalisation to a new high of nearly 200 billion,” says Business Development Director, Cyril Theret.

The admission of additional stocks was in response to customer demand for trading those securities on PLUS. PLUS has previously announced its intention to extend its stock coverage further following the implementation of its new trading and market surveillance technologies, being supplied by OMX.

During the full twelve months of 2006, over half a million trades, worth a total of nearly 3 billion, representing over 5.75 billion shares, took place on PLUS, clearly establishing the success of the market since launch in December 2005.
