NSD Tests Electronic Data Exchange with Registrars

Russias National Settlement Depository (NSD) has begun a trial for an electronic data exchange system in its information interactions with registrar Specialized Registration Company Region (SRC Region).

The trial involves both electronic and paper-based records between the two organizations, involving SRC Region records of its operations and account data. The exchange system runs on workplace software SED NSD (Luch). After the trial period, the interaction will become fully paperless.

NSD kicked off an electronic data exchange trial with another registrar, Ediny Registrator CJSC, in October.

In separate NSD news, the depository this week began providing settlement services to credit organizations conducting direct repo transactions with the Bank of Russia on the Saint-Petersburg Currency Exchange (SPCEX SC).

On November 15, the first day the service was offered, transactions utilizing the service amounted to RUB20 million.

The depository also announced that the chairman of its executive board, Eddie Astanin, had been elected as the deputy chairman of the Association of Eurasian Central Securities Depositories (AECSD). The AECSD also elected Nikolai Shvetsov, chairman of the board of the Ukrainian Securities Depository Joint Stock Company, as its chairman.
