Northern Trust has appointed Senior Vice Presidents Connie L. Lindsey and Kevin J. Rochford to leadership positions in the Corporate & Institutional Services business unit. Reporting to Rick Waddell, President of Corporate & Institutional Services, Lindsey will lead the Public Entities and Institutions market segment and Rochford will lead the Large Corporate market segment.
“Connie and Kevin reflect the depth of talent at Northern Trust, and clients will benefit immediately from their cross-organizational experience,” said Waddell. “Each is a seasoned leader with the right mix of industry, business, and operational knowledge necessary to further grow and strengthen our organization.”
Lindsey, Group Head of the Public Entities and Institutions market segment, is responsible for the institutional client servicing of Northern Trust’s public fund, Taft-Hartley, not-for-profit, and correspondent trust clients. Prior to this appointment, she served as Director of Enterprise Relationship Management within Worldwide Operations & Technology (WWOT) at Northern Trust. She also served as Deputy Business Unit Head in WWOT, responsible for oversight of the finance, strategic planning, and business recovery functions, and as a Senior Vice President in Northern Trust’s Personal Financial Services business unit, responsible for community banking, personal and business banking for Illinois.
Lindsey said Northern Trust is committed to growth in the public funds and not-for-profit institutions markets, where complex organizations require a range of expertise. “I look forward to leading this team of professionals, who are deeply committed to their clients,” said Lindsey. “The diverse client base in this segment presents a unique set of challenges, along with the opportunity to demonstrate our value in the marketplace.”
Prior to joining Northern Trust, Lindsey worked for 14 years at Ameritech, where she held various positions in finance and accounting, including Treasurer of the Ameritech Foundation. Lindsey serves on the boards of numerous community and arts organizations, including the Inroads, Inc. Policy Setting Board, the Leadership Council for Metropolitan Open Communities, Joffrey Ballet, Women Employed, Neighborhood Housing Services and the Metropolitan Club of Chicago. She is an immediate past president of Bottomless Closet and a member of the Chicago Finance Exchange and the Economic Club of Chicago.
Rochford, Group Head of the Large Corporate market segment, is responsible for client servicing and business development among Northern Trust’s largest corporate clients in North America, including multinational corporations with global servicing needs. He comes to the Large Corporate business from Northern Trust Global Investments, where he was managing director of sales and client servicing in the United States and Asia. Previously, he was managing director of Northern Trust Global Investments Europe, Ltd., with responsibility for product management, marketing, operations, and sales and client servicing.
Rochford, who oversaw the opening of Northern Trust’s Japan office and Hong Kong investment operation in his previous position, said he sees an opportunity for further growth in servicing multinational corporations based in the United States. “Our clients have very sophisticated needs, from asset servicing to personal financial services, and the continuing evolution of our servicing model gives us an edge in meeting the demands of this client base in a tough, competitive market,” Rochford said.
Prior to joining Northern Trust in 1994, Rochford served on the staff of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington D.C., and before that was a client services team leader at Bankers Trust and a credit/lending officer at Chemical Bank. Rochford served in the United States Marine Corps for four years after graduating from Williams College in 1983. He earned an M.B.A. degree from New York University in 1992 and holds an Investment Management Certificate (IMRO) and Series 7, 24 and 63 licenses.
