Northern Trust has hired Peter Jacobs has been hired as senior investment product manager for mutual funds and managed accounts, including the Northern Funds and Northern Institutional Funds, which have combined assets of $48 billion.

Jacobs will be responsible for developing and implementing investment product strategy as well as communicating product strategy to financial advisors and high net worth clients. He will report to Eric Schweitzer, senior vice president, director of marketing for Northern Trust Global Investments, the asset management arm of Northern Trust.

Jacobs has worked in investment product management since 1987. Prior to joining Northern Trust, Jacobs held several positions with Deutsche Asset Management and the predecessor company, Scudder Kemper Investments. As director of product management, he oversaw product development, product communications and product administration for Scudder Mutual Funds, comprised of 90 funds with $130 billion in assets. He began his career as product manager for Kemper Funds and subsequently became first vice president, product management for Zurich Kemper Investments and senior vice president, director, product management for Scudder Funds. Jacobs holds a BA from Stanford University.
