Northern Trust boosts Middle East team with new leadership

Northern Trust's chief executive for Saudi Arabia will expand his responsibilities to cover the whole Middle East region.

Northern Trust has bolstered its team in the Middle East and Africa with the appointment of a new head and chief operating officer (COO) for the region.

Michael Slater has been named as head of the Middle East and Africa, where he will be be responsible for the custodian’s business across the region from his base in Riyadh. He will continue his existing role as chief executive of Northern Trust Saudi Arabia.

Northern Trust has also created a new COO position for the region, appointing Mittesh Sharma for the role, and has named Edgar D’Mello as head of client management.

D’Mello will be responsible for the oversight of relationship management and client activities for Northern Trust’s institutional business in the region, while Sharma will relocate to Riyadh and oversee the direction and control of all operational activities.

Sharma was previously country manager for India within Northern Trust’s Enterprise Operations, and D’Mello was previously a client executive for key clients in the region.
