Northern Trust has appointed Madhu Gayer, an experienced risk professional, as head of Investment Risk & Analytical Services (IRAS) for asset servicing clients in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
Based in Hong Kong, Mr. Gayer will be responsible for IRAS client relations, sales and product development in the APAC region, with a particular focus on strengthening Northern Trust’s infrastructure for local delivery of risk and performance services. Mr. Gayer comes to Northern Trust from Kapstream Capital in Sydney, Australia, where as head of risk he developed Kapstream’s proprietary risk systems and was responsible for risk budgeting and analysis for the absolute return global fixed income strategy. He also headed the investment analytics group at Challenger Financial Services Group, Sydney, and has developed and implemented risk and analytics for investment firms in APAC for 12 years.
“Madhu brings vast experience in compliance, risk and performance attribution that will be vital to developing risk products for Northern Trust’s clients as we continue to grow our presence in the APAC region,” says Jim Trotter, global head of IRAS for Northern Trust. “Northern Trust has made significant appointments to its APAC team in the past year, including Kevin Hardy as regional head of Northern Trust Global Investments and Paul Cutts as managing director of the Melbourne Office. In recent months, Northern Trust has been recognized by two regional publications: The Asset magazine named Northern Trust “Best Custody Specialist” and Asia Asset Management magazine awarded the title of “Best Client Servicing in Asia-Pacific” to Northern Trust. Both awards cited accomplishments in 2008.
