Federal Reserve Bank of New York President William C. Dudley began a three-day visit to four cities in upstate New YorkIthaca, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffaloas part of the New York Feds efforts to gather useful insights on the regional economy and to strengthen ties more broadly with the Federal Reserves Second District.
While in the region, President Dudley is expected to meet with local community and business leaders to hear about the most pressing issues facing the local economy from their perspective; visit with members of the academic communities at Cornell University and Syracuse University; and deliver public remarks on regional economic conditions at Cornell University, University of Rochester and the University at Buffalo. Each morning, beginning on Tuesday, October 26, 2010, an official photograph of President Dudleys visit to the region will be released on the New York Feds web site at 9:00 a.m. EDT.
President Dudley is also expected to tour Kionix, Inc., an Ithaca-based company which utilizes Cornell University research to design and fabricate high performance inertial sensors; and the Buffalo-area GM Powertrain Tonawanda engine plant, where he will take a tour and meet informally with workers.
The New York Feds regional mission is to promote sustained economic vitality by leveraging the Banks strengths to benefit the citizens of the District. President Dudleys trip to upstate New York furthers the New York Feds active role in maintaining connections with the people and key communities in the District which help to inform Bank policy decisions and ultimately build support for sound monetary and regulatory policy.
