Neuberger Berman Group LLC, one of the privately held, independent money managers, has appointed Jason Henchman as Asia-Pacific Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chris Gunns as Head of Consultant Relations for the region.

Both Hong Kong-based positions are newly created.

As Neuberger Berman continues to build its presence in Asia Pacific, adding high-caliber individuals is extremely important in helping us meet the needs of the regions sophisticated investment clients, says Tony Edwards, head of Asia-Pacific (ex Japan) for Neuberger Berman. Jason and Chris, with their deep and relevant experience, are strong additions to our team.

In his role as COO, Henchman is responsible for administrative and control functions in the region, as well as general support for the firms businesses in Japan, Hong Kong, China, Singapore and Australia.

Henchman previously served as the Asia Pacific (ex Japan) Head of Legal and Compliance at Legg Mason. In that role, he was also responsible for the firms governance structure in the region, including chairing its Asia Risk and Operating Committee.

As Head of Consultant Relations, Gunns is responsible for Neuberger Bermans engagement in the region with investment and asset consultants, which play an important role in the institutional investment business.

Prior to joining Neuberger Berman, Gunns was the Regional Manager – Institutional Sales and Business Development at ING Investment Management Asia Pacific, where he led teams across the region to grow institutional sales across a wide range of asset classes and played a key role in building the firms institutional AUM in the region.

Neuberger Berman is dedicated to partnering with clients to help them achieve their unique investment objectives, says George Walker, chairman and chief executive of Neuberger Berman. Throughout their careers, Jason and Chris have demonstrated their commitment to this principle, and we are delighted to have them aboard in the increasingly important Asia-Pacific region.
