The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. has released its consolidated market performance statistics for the NASDAQ Market Center for May.
NASDAQ’s matched market share of all U.S. Equity share volume was a record 28.9 percent in May, more than any other U.S. exchange. NASDAQ’s matched volume in all U.S. securities was 34.7 billion shares, an increase of 15.2 percent from May 2006.
During May, handled market share in NASDAQ-listed securities was 75.5 percent and matched market share in NASDAQ-listed securities in May was 46.1 percent.
NASDAQ’s matched market share in NYSE-listed securities in May was 15.6 percent, up from 8.0 percent a year ago. NASDAQ’s handled market share in NYSE-listed securities was 56.3 percent last month.
NASDAQ’s total reported market share of all U.S. ETF volume in May was 54.1 percent, an increase from 52.9 percent last month.
Included in NASDAQ’s handled and total reported share for all U.S. NASDAQ-listed, and NYSE-listed securities are average daily volumes of 1.22, 0.54, and 0.58 billion shares, respectively, reported to the NASD/NASDAQ Trade Reporting Facility.
