MUFG Investor Services has hired Bruno Bagnouls as head of its private equity and real assets business in Luxembourg in an effort to bolster its alternatives services team.

Bagnouls will lead the strategic market and competitive analysis for private capital across all geographies, with an emphasis on Luxembourg.

He will also lead the development of the private capital client line, include private equity, real assets and debt solutions.

“Our key focus will be to articulate MUFG Investor Services’ private capital ambitions and define a go-to-market strategy to fully capture the untapped strategic growth opportunities,” said Bagnouls.

With over 20 years of experience in fund and corporate services, Bagnouls joins from TMF Group where he was the group head of private equity and real estate for four years.

He has also been involved in a number of fund services acquisitions in the EMEA and US regions, including TMF Group’s takeover of CVC Capital Partners in 2017 and State Street’s private equity and real estate fund servicing business in the Channel Islands last year.

Bagnouls also led the expansion of TMF Group’s fund services activities in Singapore and Australia.

“We are excited to have Bruno join the firm given his wealth of experience and understanding of the private equity and real assets sectors, as we continue to commit to our clients’ needs and our best-in-class service offering in Luxembourg,” said David Sarfas, global head of private equity and real assets, MUFG Investor Services.

The appointment of Bagnouls is the latest in a string of additions for MUFG’s private equity and real estate business, as it looks to increase its presence in the illiquid alternatives fund services space.

In January, it recruited Gila Cohen as a managing director of business development real estate and private equity limited partner services, within its US fund services sales team. In July last year, it hired alternatives-veteran David Sarfas as global head of private equity, and Oliver Scully as head of EMEA sales, focusing on private equity and real estate.
