Moody’s has followed the example set by Standard & Poor’s last week, and
put JP Morgan Chase’s credit ratings on review for possible downgrade.
The review reflects concern about JP Morgan’s profitability as well as its earnings volatility relative to other banks , suggesting the ratings agency agrees with the popular assessment that the Morgan mix of commercial and investment banking is not a total success. Its involvement in the Enron debacle is said to typify this, as well as leading to potentially expensive litigation.
