R . Jeep Bryant, , has joined the Bank of New York as a managing director and global head of corporate communications. Bryant will report directly to Thomas A. Renyi, chairman and chief executive officer. A potentially early sign that he intends to shake things up at the bank was the simultaneous resignation of London corporate communications chief Andy Sloan.

Bryant, who is 39 years old, was previously senior vice president and director of corporate communications for The PNC Financial Services Group. From 1989 to 1999, he worked in corporate communications at First Union (now Wachovia Corp.).

“As the premier global asset servicer, The Bank of New York is focused on fully leveraging the growth opportunities that are ahead of us,” says Renyi said.

“A comprehensive, strategic focus on communications is an essential component of our success. Jeep’s experience and insight will ensure that we strengthen our communication and outreach to all of the important constituencies we serve.”

Bryant holds a bachelor’s degree with highest honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
