Ministry of State Treasury has recently disclosed some further details of its plan of privatisation of the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE).

According to press releases the Ministry intends to invite four foreign exchanges – Deutsche Boerse, London Stock Exchange, NYSE-Euronext and Nasdaq-OMX – to participate in a tender as potential strategic investors. Moreover, it is expected, that besides the price the following criteria will be included in the offer:

-potential investors will be expected to declare that all other investments in stock exchanges from CEE will be effected via the Warsaw Stock Exchange-they will be also obliged to guarantee that new products – such as Multilateral Trading Facilities – will be introduced in Poland

-potential investors will have to guarantee that they will closely cooperate with the National Depository for Securities, including possible capital investments, dependently of the regulatory changes

Although no exact scenario for the WSE privatisation has been approved yet, the State clearly wants to indicate that the main goal of the process is to guarantee development of the stock exchange and to secure its strong position in the region.
