Microsoft has appointed Anders Abrahamsson as managing director, Microsoft EMEA Financial Services Industry. Abrahamsson joins Microsoft from Accenture, where he was a financial services industry partner operating throughout the EMEA region.

In his new role, Abrahamsson will be responsible for defining and driving Microsoft’s strategy for the financial services industry across EMEA, identifying new strategic business opportunities within EMEA, growing revenues and improving client satisfaction.

Abrahamsson will head up a team focused on wholesale and retail banking, insurance, capital markets and financial messaging. The team will continue to work closely with key EMEA customers and partners to deliver Microsoft’s vision for the future of enterprise technology in the financial services industry.

During his 14-year tenure at Accenture, Abrahamsson was the driving force behind several international banking and insurance business transformation programmes and under his leadership, Accenture delivered strong business performance in EMEA. He was also responsible for driving the company’s global strategic alliance with Microsoft Switzerland.
