John G. Gaine, the president of the Managed Funds Association (MFA), was recognized for his philanthropy at the Futures & Options for Kids annual dinner dance at the Ritz Carlton Battery Park last night.

Futures & Options for Kids is a philanthropic organization whose mission is to raise funds for distribution to agencies committed to improving the lives of children in need.

Gaine received the 2005 Arthur Kaplan Award for his support of several non-profit organizations. In addition, George F. Haase, president of New York Clearing Corporation, received the Patrick J. O’Shea Community Service Award.

“I am honoured to receive this prestigious award from my colleagues,” says Gaine. “And I am pleased to be a part of the important mission of Futures & Options for Kids. Our children represent our future, and I believe they deserve every possible opportunity to realize their hopes and dreams. Futures & Options for Kids provides a compelling opportunity for each of us to help build a brighter future for the kids who really need our assistance.”

Futures & Options for Kids was founded in 1980 by several members of the New York Commodity Exchanges. Since then, more than $9 million has been raised and distributed to hundreds of organizations, by members of the futures industry.
